Members of this commission have a responsibility for at least one of the following ministries, and meet monthly to report on accomplishments and future plans.
Bethany Bingo: provides monthly entertainment and companionship to residents at Bethany Village Nursing Home. Volunteers are needed for the first Wednesday of each month.
Bereavement Ministry: this ministry recognizes the highly emotional time of grief after a loved one has died, and provides support through prayer, cards, letters of encouragement and periodic support groups and/or workshops for one year.
Funeral Luncheons: there are two ways to participate in this ministry, either through preparing food donations for Mercy Meals, or by serving during and then cleaning up following the Mercy Meal.
Handyman Ministry: Volunteers are needed to perform light handyman activities including replacing light bulbs, moving furniture, small paint jobs, cleaning out gutters, spreading mulch, replacing door locks, etc.
Health Care Ministry: Various health care providers work together to educate and minister to our parish community through selected projects and workshops.
Pastoral Care: Ministers are specially trained to assist parishioners in need of a person to talk with concerning challenges in their lives.
St. Vincent De Paul: Members visit homes to determine need status, and collect and distribute goods from the warehouse. Additionally, they may work on special projects and functions for holidays and assist at the “Food Pantry”.
Transportation: Various duties include transporting parishioners who need groceries, health care visits, pharmaceuticals, companionship, etc.
Wake Ministry: This program provides hosting services for those having funeral visitation at Good Shepherd instead of a funeral home.
